Buenos Aires is chock full of interesting architecture and gorgeous buildings, remnants of a more prosperous time. It’s always a surprise and a pleasant shock when walking down the street, doing nothing special, and looking up to see the most beautiful building in the middle of the chaos. On my way home yesterday I happened upon this gorgeous Art Nouveau building in the microcentro area of the city. Art Nouveau is a style based on organic forms, with lots of swirling and curved lines, tendril motifs, and animals. It’s a luxury, time-consuming, and complex design style, not easily mass-produced. As such it’s always such a treat to see, and brings a little something special to everyday life.
